About John Hennessy
Thanks for taking the time to visit my website, I hope that this brief insight into my Pilates journey is useful.
I have been involved in health and fitness for much of my working career. At the age of 16 I left my home in the Midlands to join the military as a Boy Soldier, progressing to my Battalion in Germany. After serving for 10 years I decided to leave and try something new, joining the ambulance service as an Emergency Paramedic. After 14 years I made the decision to follow my passion and become a personal trainer and Pilates instructor, a career in which I now have 14 years of experience.
Working within the health service has taught me the benefits of different types of exercise for the mind and body. Work in chiropractors and physiotherapy clinics, schools and sports clubs has allowed me to develop classes that are diverse and unique. My extensive experience means my classes are structured, sociable and fun. They are suitable for all ages, body types and abilities.
I offer a free 15 minute introduction for beginners before their first class to ensure the joining process is smooth and unintimidating. During each class I offer alternatives for the more challenging moves, enabling everyone to work at their own pace. My classes allow people to progress each week and build up to a good standard of Pilates. I currently run 13 successful Pilates classes in the Bristol area (Keynsham, Longwell Green, Hanham, Saltford and Kingswood). All mats and equipment are supplied and laid out. I demonstrate and explain each movement, and have the goal of making my Pilates classes accessible and enjoyable for all.
